Meyerhoff Show Horses

Bobby and Danica have enjoyed spending some time at their home base in North Carolina this month and have been hard at work preparing fine tuning details and preparing for the upcoming summer shows. They have greatly enjoyed seeing both their horses' and their students' progress over the past few weeks and have welcomed several new working students for the summer season!

While the barn has been busy, Danica and Bobby do still have a few openings for training and sale horses. They have an incredibly successful record, and horses truly come into their own under the specialized training that both Bobby and Danica provide. It is not everywhere that your horse can be exposed to the highest level of training from not one but two top riders in eventing and show jumping! Check out this recent testimonial from Jana Lyle Ellerbusch on purchase of Heavenly SCF from Meyerhoffs:

"I had all those horse-shopping horror stories in the back of my head as I embarked on my first ever horse shopping trip this past spring but luckily I ended up at Bobby and Danica’s on my third day of looking and I was done! Heavenly wasn’t exactly what I thought I would come home with (a little greener & only 15h!) but I knew I was going to love her from Bobby’s description of her personality and I did. She is the perfect match for me – in size and temperament and will take me as far as I want to go. Bobby and Danica made the entire process so easy, allowing plenty of time for the initial trial, meeting me with my trainer the next day so we could cross-country school, always being available to answer questions during the process and to this day, several months after I bought her. I love the fact that she wasn’t just a sales horse to them and they still follow and care about her journey with me."

Team Meyerhoff's goal is to find the perfect match for every horse in their barn, and they will ensure your horse is going only to the perfect home. Contact Bobby and Danica today to discuss a specialized training and sales program for your horse!

On the competition side, Danica has seen her months of dedicated training pay off with multiple successful trips to the Tryon International Equestrian Center for their summer show series. All of her horses put in lovely and confident in the high-atmosphere environment at Tryon and delivered several top finishes. Danica rode sales horse Rudolf, to a second place finish in the 1.10 meter jumpers and he also jumped his first 1.15 meter jumper class! Not to be out done, Casanova was also great with double clears in all her 1.15 classes. In addition, one of Danica's students, Corinna Kolschowsky, took home multiple wins with Joan Goswell's RF Estella in the .90 meter jumpers.

Danica also had a special ride at Tryon on her own Dunlavin's Token! This was his first time back in the show ring since the Kentucky CCI4*, and she could tell he was excited and ready to go. As icing on the cake, they took home a sixth place finish in a massive 1.20 meter class to cap off an incredible week.

This past month also marked the end of the spring season for Bobby. He headed north to the Bromont International Horse Trials at the beginning of June with his own Albano, Fortuna, and Rascal Rap. The long drive proved to be well worth it! Fortuna continued her streak of fantastic 2* finishes with another top finish in the CIC2* division, and Albano made his CCI1* debut but certainly didn't show a bit on inexperience with an eighth place finish against tough competition. To cap off the weekend, Rascal Rap put in a stellar performance in the CCI2*, adding only a handful of cross country time faults to his superb 43.9 dressage score to finish in third place! Bobby was so thrilled with the weekend at this lovely event, and it was the perfect way to cap off his spring.

In between competitions, both Bobby and Danica have been teaching numerous clinics all over the United States. They really enjoy getting to watch participants progress over the course of the clinic and find it so rewarding to see the smiles on everyone's faces when they conquer something they never thought they could. They both have a few open dates left for the summer, so be sure to contact them today to get a weekend booked!

This week, Danica is riding at the Charleston Summer Classic Horse Show. She is so excited for the trip down to South Carolina as she has yet to ride at this prestigious venue, and Bobby can't wait to watch Token back in the ring with Danica. Stay tuned for live scores and updates!

Both Bobby and Danica have been hard at work gearing up for the spring event season, and their preparation has paid off this month, culminating in another successful 4* finish at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.

Rolex Token

This month, Danica and her team have spent time showing at HITS Ocala. All of her horses have benefitted from having a top-notch show facility in their backyard and have blossomed throughout the circuit, picking up a number of wins and top finishes. While Danica was sad to leave Ocala at the end of the month, she had a wonderful time showing there and is excited to return next winter.

Bobby has stayed busy throughout April as well. He came home from the Chattahoochee Hills International Horse Trials early this month with several wins and top placings, including an exciting win in the CIC2* division with his own Fortuna! Bobby has continued to be so impressed with this young horse, and he was thrilled with this finish in only her third start at the level. Bobby also rode Rascal Rap in the same division, finishing not far behind in third place, and his own Albano in the CIC1* division to a top three finish in the horse's first attempt at the level.

This past week, Bobby, Danica, and their entire team traveled to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky for Bobby and Dunlavin’s Token’s fourth appearance at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event. This year's event was a bittersweet one for the entire team, as it was the final time the pair would compete together before “Token” is retired from upper level competition, and particularly challenging for Bobby who was competing with several fractured ribs after a fall just a few weeks prior. Token settled in well and felt great in his final rides before competition, and they kicked off dressage with a solid test on Friday.

On Saturday, Bobby and Token tackled the substantial cross country test set by Derek Di Grazia, and Bobby was so pleased with how Token handled the difficult questions on course. Token came out of the day feeling better than ever and concluded his upper level career on Sunday with a superb show jumping round. A few tears were definitely shed as Bobby and Token left the ring for the final time, but it was the perfect ending to an incredible partnership.

They’re excited to continue sharing their journey with each and every one of you!

This summer has definitely been a new experience for all of us at MSH, we've been on two different circuits for the first time,  traveling separately and often showing in different states in the same week. It's not easy to run two disciplines out of one barn, sell horses, achieve goals, and keep everyone happy, If only we could clone ourselves to keep everything running smoothly! We have been extremely lucky to have such great people working diligently behind the scenes while we're away, our groom extraordinaire Orlando betancourth has been irreplaceable this summer! It's important in our sport to have a strong core built with people that ultimately become part of your "horse family".

Team in our sport is so essential; being a professional in the equestrian industry often at times can feel exhausting and it takes alot of mental toughness to rise up when you get beat down. As an athlete I like to focus on self improvement, if your not reaching outside the box, meeting new people, and trying new things your not improving. Staying in your comfort zone is not going to get you to your goals!  So here we have it, the summer of self improvement, weather it be making your own path, generating a name for yourself, or re evaluating what you need to do to get that much better, you have to be the one to initiate change to become more successful.

Everyone who wants to be a champion, everyone that wants to be at the top has had or will have these moments of growth separating good from great, making the impossible seem possible. Throughout the summer our team has worked hard at growing our business, growing ourselves, and improving our quality of horses.
Lots more to work on throughout our fall season, starting with stable view and tryon in October, We'll be blogging again soon to keep you up to speed!
